What an exciting time for Rows! After a few years in the making, it is now ready for the public! Last year, the Rows team worked closely with 1,000 beta users who helped make the product powerful and delightful. Over the last 2 months, Rows released its waitlist of more than 10,000 people, and at the end of February finally announced its launch into public beta: now anyone can create an account and use the platform! Along the way, the company underwent a complete rebranding (changing its name from dashdash), and raised funding from investors such as LakeStar, Accel and…

With the continuous expansion of our portfolio and the growing number of high-potential technologies, we are both expanding and enriching our capacity to identify distinctive investment opportunities and support our founders. We are proud to announce that we have welcomed two new members to our team.

Both share a common passion for entrepreneurship and innovation, and are eager to contribute to the success of the startups and entrepreneurs that integrate our portfolio. Coincidentally, they both worked at McKinsey & Company and hold an MBA from INSEAD. But the similarities stop there. Pedro Castel-Branco holds a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering…

You have heard about Tonic App before and we have told you about their successful story and ambition to keep growing. This year, they have announced a new release that will make them more accessible for physicians in Portugal, Spain and Italy, where they already operate, and also in new geographies as the company expands its reach: besides being a mobile app, now they are also a web platform.

This is very important to Tonic App, as it allows them to reach more physicians and increase their user base. The platform gathers information about several diseases and treatments, helping medical…

TonicApp was launched as a platform aiming to facilitate the day-to-day of healthcare professionals, namely medical doctors who are under more and more pressure and, as such, value new tools that help increase their efficiency. As the company operates in a very promising industry and delivers a high relevance solution, TonicApp has been performing in…

As we’ve seen in a previous article, at first, the pandemic brought new and unprecedented hurdles for companies to surpass. After the initial shock, organizations started fighting back, pivoting their strategies and creating solutions to help society.

Even with the uncertainty brought by covid-19, Feedzai announced last October that this year’s second quarter was one of their best ever, new-business-wise. The enterprise founded in Coimbra in 2008 saw a 44% growth in new Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) in the first half of 2020 when compared to the same period of 2019. H1 was boosted by deals closed in the US…

Dashdash, is now Rows. Appentra won the Innovative Science category at this year’s edition of the Innovation Radar Prize with its Parallelware Technology, the analysis tool that aims to reduce the burden of making code parallel.

According to the European Commission, the category aims to recognize the excellent scientific work — supported by the European Union funding vehicles — that is both emerging from laboratories around Europe and has a great potential for commercialization.

This is another proof of the promising technology Appentra is developing. Armilar got on board last April and co-led an investment round of 1.8 million euros for the Spanish company.

If you are curious about Appentra’s technology, you may be interested in “A few insights on the rise of parallel computing,” an article written by Armilar’s Principal João Dias.

… and why Armilar invested in Didimo

By now we should all be familiar with expressions such as “software is eating the world” or “Artificial Intelligence is the new electricity”. More than just famous quotes, they illustrate the dimension of the digital revolution that is happening. From remote working using immersive collaborative tools, to socializing on social media and gaming platforms, we are in the process of “digitizing humans” giving birth to a new era of digital interaction.

But those digital interactions should not be devoid of “real-life” elements. Actually, they tend to be more effective the closer they are to real physical experiences. For example: (i)…

5G will change our lives in an unprecedented way. While global mobile data traffic is increasing — multiplying year-over-year -, our infrastructure must follow our modern world’s needs. The existing 4G networks will not be able to cope with the growing flow of information, especially in high-density urban areas, where keeping the data speed in compliance with customer’s usage is most demanding for telecoms.

This is where the fifth-generation (5G) of cellular networks comes into play. …
